Wellness Programs

Primex3 has developed a unique, highly effective approach to providing wellness, preventative care and lifestyle modification programs to its members. Each wellness initiative is designed to meet the unique needs of each member and its employees. Primex³ and Harvard Pilgrim will work collaboratively with you and your employees to design a customized wellness program to encourage employee health improvement and participation in wellness activities.

Harvard Pilgrim believes that health promotion and disease prevention are major components of its overall mission. This commitment to health promotion is exemplified though a variety of programs and services for members. The Health Education and Prevention Unit at Harvard Pilgrim provides information to all of its members through its robust outreach efforts, which include the largest selection of health education programs in New England, preventive health reminders, the member publication "Your Health" newsletter, community events, an extensive choice of employer wellness programs, and the Your Member Savings program.

Harvard Pilgrim has a track record of promoting and supporting healthier lifestyles. Harvard Pilgrim has implemented a fitness option, promotes healthier eating and proper nutrition, and has a comprehensive approach to health quality improvement. Primex³ similarly has a long record of providing support and training to assist members in maintaining safe work places to avoid injury and disease.

Primex3’s Prescription for Wellness begins with an in-depth evaluation of your employees’ current health status so that the program we create for you is customized for your employees and their needs. We can identify the health risks and needs through health risk appraisals, consultation with management and review of claims to make recommendations for wellness initiatives that target the specific area of concern for your employees. These recommendations may take the form of educational workshops, workplace health screenings and personal follow up, all custom-designed for your employees and their needs.

We believe that the concept of total wellness recognizes that our every thought, word and behavior affects our greater health and well-being. Therefore, we strive to design programs that are built around employee total wellness and solving key workplace health problems based on best practices, cost effectiveness and budget.

Wellness components may include:
  • Individual and group health promotion programs;
  • Weight management programs including Weight Watchers®;
  • Lifestyle change programs including smoking cessation and nutrition;
  • Self-care guides and resources;
  • On-site major health screening and wellness workshops;
  • Primex3 representatives attending periodic wellness team meetings;
  • Fitness center design consultation;
  • Health and wellness grants; and
  • Flu shot clinics.
Harvard Pilgrim has the largest selection of health and wellness programs in New England.

Deeply discounted to members, and in many cases subsidized by Primex3Health, these programs are offered through multiple channels: on-site, web, mail, phone, and video. A complete list is available on the Harvard Pilgrim web site, www.harvardpilgrim.org, and many are listed in the member "Your Health" newsletter. Programs include stress management, parenting, fitness, disease support groups, smoking cessation, and more.
